Hi! I’m Kara.
I am a thoughtful and passionate creative who enjoys helping nonprofits, small businesses and entrepreneurs share their story.
I am available for limited freelance work while I focus on my young family. I work with clients to create their logo and branding suites, marketing materials like flyers and social media graphics, and nonprofit materials like annual reports and appeal letters. I approach design from a problem-solving perspective and enjoy creating work that is colorful and illustrative.
Prior to freelance, I spent six years working at Twin Cities’ nonprofits. As the Lyndale Neighborhood Association’s Communications Coordinator, I created print and digital marketing assets, wrote a weekly email newsletter, and managed the organization's social media and WordPress website. Before joining LNA, I was the designer and webmaster at YWCA St. Paul, where I created print and digital collateral in addition to managing YW’s WordPress website.
I hold an A.A.S. Graphic Design: Web and Interactive Media from Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and a B.A. Art and Sociology from University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
